Inconel wire is made for applications in high temperatures up to 2000oF. Inconel wires are oxidation and corrosion resistant materials with strength to perform at a wide range of temperatures. Due to these properties, Inconel wires are preferably used over steel. They have main applications in energy, heat treating plants, chemical industry, pharmaceutical, aerospace and nuclear engineering. Inconel alloys are resistant to organic and inorganic compounds, chloride ion stress-corrosion cracking and alkaline solutions.

Inconel 600 is a non-magnetic alloy that is used in the diverse corrosion resistant applications for offering exceptional resistance to chloride based stress corrosion cracking. It is fit for use in high temperature media up to 2150oF. It is usually specified for applications in nuclear steam generator, heat processing baskets, fixtures, trays and furnace muffles, chemical and food processing units.

Incoloy 800 is a Nickel-Iron-Chromium super alloy that offers potential resistance to high temperature oxidation and carburization. It was further  modified into Alloy 800H by lowering carbon content to 0.05 – 0.10 % which is further modified to 800HT by including titanium and aluminum to provide suitable high temperature characteristics.

Incoloy alloy 800 is highly resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking and embrittlement. It has moderate high temperature strength and is certainly useful for petrochemical industry that includes long term operations up to 649oC or 1200oF.

Incoloy 800 covers ASME code up to 816oC, it offers superior oxidation resistance and is significant for service at the elevated temperatures in the non-ASME coded operations.

Incoloy 800 Applications

Ethylene furnace quench boilers, hydrocarbon cracking, valves, fittings, industrial furnace components, heat processing apparatus, chemical and petrochemical processing units, pressure containers and tubes, heat exchanger parts and pipes, carburizing fixtures and retorts, Ammonia effluent cooler, superheater and reheater components in production units.

 

Incoloy 800 is used in the chemical plants for components of heat exchangers and transmission pipes of nitric acid solutions that need to prevent attack of chloride stress corrosion cracking. In the power production plants, the alloy is used in super-heater and re-heater tubes.

Incoloy Alloy 800H/800HT are a controlled composition alloy, used in applications that need high temperature creeping resistance. They offer good resistance in the variety of acidic and sulfur containing media. The blend of mechanical and thermal processing enables Nickel 800H/HT to tolerate higher stresses than those of traditional alloys.

Alloy 800H is a solution heat processed metallic material with limited carbon content than alloy 800. It offers higher elevated temperature characteristics and has better creeping and stress rupture properties at the temperature limits up to 1100oF – 1800oF or 593oC to 982oC.

The chemistry of Incoloy 800H/800HT provides outstanding resistance to carburization, oxidation and nitridation conditions. They are not susceptible to embrittlement even after prolong operations up to 1200oF to 1600oF. At this temperature range, many stainless steels exhibit brittleness.

Alloy 800H/HT are commonly used in applications that include high temperature corrosive media such as in Ethylene Pyrolysis, hydrocarbon cracking, furnaces for vinyl chloride diphenol and acetic acid, valves, fittings and other fixtures.  They are used in power production, superheater, petrochemical industries, heat processing retorts, muffles jigs, baskets, trays, components, refineries, tubings for oil refining units, electric range heating-element enclosing, ammonia effluent coolers, extruded tubing

Inconel 617 is a solid solution NiCrCoMo alloy offering exclusive blend of high temperature strength and oxidation resistance. Excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of conditions. It can be easily forged and welded by traditional methods.

Availability of high nickel and chromium magnitudes feature alloy 617 with outstanding resistance to oxidation and reduction conditions at the elevated temperatures.

Inconel 617 offers high strength and oxidation resistance up to 1800oF that make it an ideal material for aircraft and land based gas turbines. The alloy has good pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.

Inconel 617 a high temperature nickel alloy is fit for use in the power production units for its creeping resistance and good fabricability properties. It is used in industrial gas turbines and furnaces for its finest working, welding and creeping resistance properties.

Inconel 617 has lower density as compare to tungsten based alloys. It attains exceptionally high metallurgical stability that even after prolong elevated temperature exposure it doesn’t cause formation of embrittling phases.

The presence of nickel, chromium and aluminum elements provides great resistance to carburization at the high temperatures. It can also withstand various aqueous corrosive conditions. At high temperatures, chromium and aluminum result in the development of thin and adherent oxide layer that prevents spalling and offers moderate to good resistance to various reducing and oxidizing acids such as hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid and nitric acid.

Incoloy 825 is designed to resist a variety of vigorous corrosive media such as sulfuric and phosphoric acids, nitric acid, nitrates and oxidizing salts. It offers better aqueous corrosion resistance than alloy 800 and good resistance to chlorine based conditions. Alloy 825 contains significant magnitude of chromium and molybdenum that offer wide resistance to all magnitudes of HCl below 40oC or 100oF.

Incoloy 825 has stable austenitic structure, it significantly prevents pitting, crevice corrosion and intergranular attack. The presence of high nickel and other crucial elements such as molybdenum and copper increases resistance to various oxidizing agents.  It is also authenticated for production of pressure vessels for service temperatures up to 538oC.

NiCrFe superalloy 825 has fine mechanical properties from medium to elevated temperatures.  The hot processing limit for this alloy is up to 2150oF. It is easily weldable by whole traditional techniques like shielded metal arc and gas shielded metal arc welding.

Corrosion Behavior

Incoloy 825 has outstanding resistance to marine water and reducing media for example sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. As it prevents sensitization, it remains unaffected from intergranular attack.

A hardenable nickel based super alloy that offers supreme high yield, tensile and creep rupture characteristics up to 1300oF. Nickel-based alloys are especially useful spring materials to combat corrosion and to withstand both elevated and below-zero temperature application. Their nonmagnetic characteristic is important for such devices as gyroscopes, chronoscopes, and indicating instruments. These materials have high electrical resistance and should not be used for conductors of electrical current.
